Facelift in Turkey
What is Facelift?
Facelift is one of the most common procedures today. It is done to wipe the signs of aging out of a person's face. However, the facelift procedure does not address the whole face, it only addresses the lower 2/3 of it. Mainly, there are two types of facelift procedures:
- Mid-Facelift: Mid facelift procedure addresses the area between the person's lower eyelid and upper lip. It is done under general anesthesia and takes a few hours. In a mid-facelift procedure, the surgeon places the incision inside the mouth, on top of the gums. Also, there will be another incision on the temples, behind the hairline. Through these incisions, the surgeon 'hangs' the sagging facial tissue on the cheekbones to achieve a youthful appearance.
- Lower-Facelift: Lower facelift addresses the lower 1/3 of the face. It is done under general anesthesia. The lower-facelift incision is placed on the cartilage of the ear. The procedure helps the patient achieve a more accentuated jawline. Sometimes, if the patient is a good candidate, the procedure can be combined with a neck lift to get rid of the 'double chin' look and have a defined jawline. In those cases, the surgeon extends the incision towards the back of the earlobe, and an incision under the chin might be necessary.
Facelift Aftercare
Facelift aftercare is not a complex practice. After having a facelift, the patient needs to rest for 1-2 weeks. The incision sites need to be cleaned with an iodine solution daily, and after applying the antibiotic cream, the incision sites need to be closed. It generally takes a few months for the swelling to go down completely. After the surgery, if you have any of the symptoms below, please contact us immediately:
- Extreme swelling
- Bleeding
